This is a memoir that was assigned to me as my freshman reading book my first year of college and was also the book assigned to freshmen my first year teaching college English. It's about a girl growing up with two free spirited parents. Jeanette and her siblings fend for themselves as they travel across America and eventually grow up to see what went wrong.
